Item Description
One in a lifetime opportunity to have coffee with NYC comptroller, Scott Stringer. This is the only donation of his time that Scott is making this year. Here’s your chance to talk with the City’s Chief Financial Officer.
Scott believes it is the Comptroller’s duty to make every dollar count—whether it’s put to work in our classrooms, hospitals, parks, or streets—and to maximize the economic impact of our City’s investments on our quality of life and economic growth.
Earlier this year, Comptroller Stringer’s report on arts education in NYC public schools revealed that 28 percent of schools had no fulltime, certified arts teachers. The report led to a restoration of $23 million in funding for students throughout the five boroughs. The comptroller is has also set up a team to ensure that
$700 million spent in recent years to build out broadband infrastructure schools results in student truly having the digital tools they need for a 21st century education.
The New York Times wrote that Mr. Stringer has a “sterling reputation as a catalyst for reform,” citing his record as a champion of open government and community engagement.
Scott was born and raised in Washington Heights and lives on the Upper West Side with his wife and two sons.
