Item Description
This is a genuine, rare Alexandrite gemstone, mined in Brazil, 5.3mm oval, 0.35 carats. Donated by Brooklyn Tech parent Anil Gupta, a gems dealer for over 20 years, this gem is 100% natural, except for faceting of the stone; there is no other human intervention aside from mining it. A unique characteristic is that the gem is a beautiful blue-green in white light (left photograph) yet fully changes color to a reddish-purple in yellow, incandescent light (right photograph).
Alexandrite is the rarest of all gemstones, and its color-changing properties are truly phenomenal. It would be ideal as the centerpiece of a beautiful custom-made ring or pendant to mark a special occasion.
