About STREB:

Come take ACTION classes at the home of MacArthur Foundation "Genius Award" winning Action Architect Elizabeth Streb and the STREB Extreme Action Company.

STREB offers Adult classes for dance students and professionals. Developed by Elizabeth Streb over the last 20 years, PopAction classes help dancers acquire new skills by posing unique challenges: change your base of support in a rapid fire way, physically designate specific locations in vertical and horizontal space, learn to pop the muscles to initiate action (rather than skeletally transferring weight), train for impact, learn to fly with low-to-the-ground maneuvers that increase spatial awareness, and incorporate a timing system that is not musical but physical (“felt timing”). The classes confronts issues of falling and fear. STREB operates on a ‘personal best’ principle; the method suits all body types, ages, and skill sets. All adult classes are taught by current company members.

About Diane Tomasi:

Fly high, build strength and flexibility with a 1 hour private aerial silks lesson with Diane Tomasi. Beginners are welcome!

Diane dances both on the ground and in the air, as an aerialist you can see her perform as a freelancer all over the city including Galapagos, Big Sky Works, The Slipper Room and makeshift performances venues such as the rooftop of The Cee Flat, Blue Angel Wines & Socrates Sculpture Park, among others.

Diane, a BAX Teaching Artist, holds a BA (Hons) Performing Arts (Dance), from the Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts, aka the “Paul McCartney Fame School.” She moved to NYC in 2006, and received Thai Massage certifications in Basic Levels I & II, Advanced Studies: Sen Theory and Application as well as a dance teaching certification in the Simonson Method of Teacher Training.
