Charlie Berman MFA Art of Americas Tour
Charlie Berman, teacher of history and art history at Newton Country Day School, offers a 90-minute tour, for up to four people, of the Art of the Americas wing at the Boston Museum of Fine Arts. The tour will focus on twelve to fifteen major works that reflect some of the more significant developments in American art from the late eighteenth through the twentieth century. The aim of the tour will be to show the various ways in which American artists rendered, in great paintings, their understandings of nature, spirituality, social experience, and the individual. Featured will be representative works from, among other groupings, the Colonial Period, the Hudson River School, the Illuminists of the mid-nineteenth century, American Impressionism, twentieth-century Realism, and Abstract Expressionism. If you've not yet visited the Art of the Americas wing, this tour will serve as an ideal introduction to its extraordinary collection.
