The Confederate States of America Currency, $5, (February 17, 1864)
This currency was authorized by the Confederate Government on February 17, 1864. On it appears the printing "TWO YEARS AFTER THE RATIFICATION OF A TREATY OF PEACE BETWEEN THE CONFEDERATE STATES AND THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA - THE CONFEDERATE STATES of AMERICA - WILL PAY TO BEARER FIVE DOLLARS. The note depicts the state capitol building at Richmond, Virginia in the center and C.G. Memminger, Confederate Secretary of Treasury. You are bidding on a Confederate States of American Currency $5 note dated February 17, 1864.
