Item Description
This item is donated by The Chaffee's Community Arts program, Animal Portraits, with instructor Kristen Partesi.
Unframed and measures approximately 11"x"14
On day 1, students (ages 10-13) learned the basics of animal sketching and about the Rutland County Humane Society. On day 2, they took a field trip to the local animal shelter where they spent time interacting with the animals and learning about the shelter. There was a specific focus on ways to prevent animal neglect, and how the arts can benefit this cause. Each student chose 1 or 2 animals to learn further information on, and to use as the subject in the art projects that followed. After returning from the shelter, they discussed ideas for art projects and began sketching. On day 3, students completed one or more paintings using discussed styles of art. Completed artwork was then put on display and either auctioned to benefit the humane society or donated directly to the humane society. This is a great community service project for any kids who have a love for animals.
