Item Description
Edible Excursions is an award-winning culinary tour company that offers food lovers intimate culinary strolls through San Francisco’s famous Ferry Building Marketplace, culturally diverse Mission District, historic Japantown, and downtown's craft cocktail bar scene. Edible Excursions’ explorations take place in neighborhoods where small business owners, artisans, purveyors, farmers, and restaurant chefs share their personal food stories and their passion for local, seasonal, sustainable eats. And, of course, along with learning about each area’s culinary and cultural background, guests are treated to signature tastes from seven to nine different stops along the way.
Boasting both traditional Latin dishes like al pastor (marinated pork) tacos and modern creations such as cinnamon horchata cupcakes, the Mission 24thStreet neighborhood offers just about every flavor you could dream of. You’ll try bites from newer establishments like the sustainable Jewish deli Wise Sons, to the iconic Mexican eatery La Palma, a Mission staple since 1953.
Shake up your usual food routine and try out-of-the-ordinary eats, such asHumphry Slocombe’s bourbon-and-cornflake ice cream, caramelized butternut squash tamales from Roosevelt Tamale Parlor, and more. As an added bonus, you’ll learn the importance of some of the area’s iconic murals from a Precita Eyes art docent, a local institution.
