Item Description

Afterschool classes provide school aged children a chance to reinforce and practice Spanish while participating in interactive content area classes. Classes run for 15 week sessions from October to May (Fall and Spring semesters). Classes may be held Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday. It is a drop off class of children who may arrive as early as 2:30 for a snack, independent reading and choice time. Lessons begin at 3:30 for the class and end at 5pm. the classes may bary by semester, but donation would a choice of content area classes, which have included dance, movement, sports, fine art, cooking, chess, fencing and science. 1once a week for both semesters.

La Escuelita was founded in 2002 by two parents, both professional educators, who wanted bilingual play and preschool experiences for their children. La Escuelita's home is the diverse Upper West Side of New York City. Our mission is to support bilingualism in children from birth through 3rd grade. La Escuelita families: Appreciate the cognitive, social and cultural value of early acquired bilingualism. Are active members of a diverse community of families who promote equality within the community through respectful, direct communication. Recognize the importance of both independent play and teacher directed activity.
