Item Description
1 Bottle of Egervin Bulls Blood 2010, Egri Bikaver, Hungary
Hungary’s most famous red wine. Officially Egri Bikavér must contain at least three of the following 13 grapes: Kadarka, Kékfrankos, Blauer Portugieser, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Menoire, Pinot noir, Syrah, Turán, Bíborkadarka and the modern Austrian crossings, Blauburger and Zweigelt. This wine is produced in accordance with centuries-old tradition, Egri Bikavér is still a blend of noble and indigenous varietals, aged up to two years in oak barrels in volcanic stone cellars. The fierceness, however, has been tempered, so today’s wine is a delicious, dry red wine, as elegant as it is robust. It is a perfect accompaniment to bold foods – game, roasts, steaks and all types of red meat dishes.
1 Bottle of Le Canon du Marechal 2008, VdP des Cotes Catalanes, France
In the heart of the Roussillon, in Rivesaltes, Cazes has near 200 hectares that each year give rise to 14 different wines. Each of those is given the same care in nearly twelve different processes, each combining traditional know-how and elaborate technology. For the last ten years Cazes has been using new viticulture methods which use the principals of a naturally healthy plant: the bio-dynamic principal. From the Pays des Cotes Catalanes, this blend of 50% Syrah and 50% Merlot is an easy drinking wine, with velvety fruity aromas. A wine ideal for drinking throughout a meal.
1 Bottle of Marques de Caceres Gran Reserva 1986, DOCa Rioja, Spain
Marques de Caceres is a wine producer based in Cenicero, Rioja Alta, Spain. Their wines are among the most widely distributed Spanish brand wines in the United States. The 1986 Gran Reserva is finally coming around after its travels. Surprisingly, many of these older Tempranillo wines are extremely delicate, much like older bottles of Pinot Noir. The 1986 is indeed a delicate, beautiful flower, full of round, elegant, fully mature fruit! Ideally served with red meat.
1 Bottle of Tenute Cisa Asinari Dei Marchesi di Gresy, Langhe 2009, DOG Nebbiolo, Italy
Le Tenute Cisa Asinari dei Marchesi di Grésy, owned by the di Grésy family since 1797, began producing their own wines in 1973 following a decision by Alberto di Grésy. Produced from grapes grown in the same vineyard as their Barbaresco, this wine has all the character and elegance of a great 100% Nebbiolo with an intense perfume of fine flowers and mature berries. Fresh and pleasant on the palate with typical tannic backbone, it is ideal with grilled foods, white and red meats, and medium aged cheeses.
