SABA Soccer-One Week of Summer Camp

SUMMER SKILLS CAMPS AGE GROUPS AND LEVELS

The coaching staff begins camp with group warm ups, followed by organizing players in their age groups. However, after the first few sessions, players may then be re-grouped based on ability and enthusiasm. Below is a sample of how players may be grouped at camp.

Beginner Skills-Ages 7 and up
These players may be in current recreation leagues, such as AYSO Brooklyn and may be new to technical training activities provided at SABA. If campers show progress throughout the day, they will be moved to the Intermediate group. Some 6 year olds who can move on from the A B C activities in Kinder Kicks are added to this beginner skills group.

Intermediate Skills-Ages 7 and Up
These players have been assessed as having the ability to possibly play on one of our younger mid level travel teams. Advanced 6 year olds may take part with some U7 and U8 players, depending on the camp numbers and only after coach recommendations.

Advanced Skills-Ages 8 and Up
The players picked have been assessed as being in the top tier of the group after initial camp evaluations are made. Players in the Advanced Skills group may be currently on travel teams within SABA or at another club. Players in this group are potential "A" division or SPD (SABA PLAYER DEVELOPMENT) type players.

**Beginner, Intermediate, and advanced groups may be grouped by age or may include players of various ages. Coaches organize camp groups each week to best balance out the levels but also based on camp attendance.

**Boys and Girls of different ages train together and also separately at camp, depending on the camp goals for that day. SABA encourages boys and girls to play against one another to create a competitive environment more concerned with competition and development then a concern for playing with only the same gender or age. Other times, SABA incorporates boys or girls only groups to encourage a bond amongst players of the same gender. All groupings are done with a purpose that helps carry out the camp philosophy.
