Item Description
Iris Gill received her Masters in Fine Art in 1997 from San Diego State University. Her artistic influences included Llyn Foulkes, Frida Kahlo, Alice Neal, Otto Dix, Emil Nolde, Robert Rauschenberg, and Nancy Rubins. She created art with immediacy and passion; with energy derived from deep anguish and an innate creative drive. Her prolific paintings, drawings and sculptures are notable for powerful expressions, understanding and compassion. Iris’s paintings honestly confront viewers with issues that include disabilities, sexuality and social concerns. Her art has been exhibited in North America, Australia, and New Zealand.
