Item Description

Powerful portable Braille information and navigation device. The Braille Sense OnHand has an 18-cell Braille display. This unit is gently used. Everything is in excellent shape. It has all the features per the full description plus it has the Sendero Sense Nav GPS software with North America maps loaded on a 16GB SD card, ready to go. The OnHand has a built-in GPS receiver. The OnHand is an excellent device but it has been discontinued in favor of the U2 Mini, which sells new for $3,995.

The Braille Sense OnHand* is the sleekest and lightest 18-cell Braille notetaker on the market today.  You can use it to take notes; keep your calendar; track addresses and other contact information; listen to music, podcasts, audio books, or the FM radio; read your e-mail; browse the Internet and stream content; build databases; and access both text and audio DAISY content. You can pair the OnHand with your smartphone or other Bluetooth device, use its built-in compass and GPS capabilities to map out routes to desired locations, and even play games. You can, of course, check the time and date, set alarms and reminders, use a scientific calculator, and read a wide variety of file types transferred from your computer or other devices.

The Sense Navigation software uses map data together with a GPS receiver, and gives information based on the map data. With millions of points of interest, you can find anything from restaurants to hotels, to hospitals. You can even add your own custom entries such as your home, your work, or a friend's home. Creating vehicle or pedestrian routes is easy and you can even share them with other GPS users.
