Item Description
Born in Brooklyn and turned Nashvillian, Carrie Mills was awarded a scholarship at 17 to study at the prestigious Parsons School of Design in New York City majoring in Fashion Design. She has designed for Anne Klein studio focusing on shoes, handbags, blouses, scarves, belts and various accessories licensed by Anne Klein.
Upon moving to Nashville, Carrie created a line of handmade vests worn by numerous artists and country music stars, including Brooks and Dunn, Diamond Rio and Ringo Starr. Carrie created and teaches a fashion camp at the Gordon Jewish Community Center and recently joined The Frist summer camp program. Her fashion illustrations along with her other fine arts have been on display in Nashville galleries and can be found in many private collections.
Carrie’s Dragon Egg:
“I sat with the egg on my work table for many days looking at it thinking of what an egg symbolizes…waiting. Then it happened…before I even picked up a brush. I saw it. I knew what I was to do.
Birth, life, creation. It became clear to me. This egg was calling out to become a continuation of a series of paintings I began years ago called “The God Series.”
How perfect to continue that series on a mythological egg for our city's Children’s Theatre. Our children are our future. They are our true creation...bursting forth, cracking open, creating, reinventing…shimmering silver and gold…with riches and stories yet to unfold.” - Carrie
