Item Description
This lovely Wedgwood Queensware L.N.E.R. Cathedral Series Dessert plate is in the Catherine shape as supplied to the Empress Catherine II of Russia by Josiah Wedgwood F.R.S. in 1774. This plate depicts York Minster cathedral and is decorated in sepia tones surrounded by a garland of blue thistle and red roses. York Minster is the cathedral of York, England, and is one of the largest of its kind in Northern Europe.
Marked with stamp and impressed into clay WEDGWOOD. Made in England. Eturia, England. 5U30. Ca May 1930. Earthenware.
