ECHO Lake Aquarium and Science Center is a 36,000 square foot, award-winning LEED-certified facility. Founded in 2003, ECHO welcomes more than 150,000 visitors annually with interactive exhibits and science education programs that include over 70 species of fish, amphibians, invertebrates, and reptiles; and more than 100 interactive experiences. We believe and teach that everyone can make a difference--that all it takes is one drop to change an action, change direction, change a mind--change our world. ECHO is the public face of the Patrick and Marcelle Leahy Center for Lake Champlain — a 2.2 acre environmental campus on the Burlington Waterfront. In addition to ECHO, The Leahy Center is home to: The Leahy Center for Lake Champlain is named in honor of Senator Patrick Leahy and his wife, Marcelle, for their tireless advocacy on behalf of this one-of-a-kind natural treasure, Lake Champlain, and protecting it for generations to come. Continuing improvements... ECHO Lake Aquarium and Science Center works hard to continually "better our best" in terms of education, outreach and partnerships. Recent upgrades and improvements include the completion of the Revision Lakeside Pavilion, outdoor Dealer.com Terrace, the Action Lab on the top floor and solar panels on the roof. Upcoming improvements include Sustatinability Park, an eco-friendly, hands-on, interactive, open-to-the-public outdoor space that teaches Lake stewardship. Our Members: If you're a local, please consider becoming a Member! ECHO Members get UNLIMITED FREE admission, year round! Plus, Membership entitles you to many additional benefits, such as free admission to more than 310 museums and science centers through the ASTC Passport Program, and discounts in ECHO's Eclectic Gift Shop, ECHO Café, and parking. For more information on Membership,Click Here. ECHO is open year round, 10 a.m. - 5 p.m., except Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve & Day. ECHO's Café is open from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. and managed by Sugarsnap, a local food producer specializing in using local ingredients. (You do not need to pay admission to ECHO in order to eat at the cafe, just check in at the front desk.) Paid admission allows you to leave and re-enter ECHO as many times as you would like until 5 p.m.
