The Comprehensive Brain Balance Assessment

Does your child struggle academically? Does he or she have trouble making friends? Are behavioral issues causing problems in every day activities?

If you answered yes to one or more of these questions, the Brain Balance Assessment can help you understand what is at the root of these issues. It will show you where your child’s strengths lie as well as his or her weaknesses and how the Brain Balance Program® may be able to help.

For over a decade, the Brain Balance Program has helped thousands of children overcome their learning and developmental issues through our integrated, whole-child approach. However, it is critical to first understand your child’s particular strengths and weaknesses and if they have a functional disconnection, or brain imbalance in their functional development.  Whether or not your child has a diagnosis, Brain Balance can help identify your child’s functional weaknesses through a comprehensive assessment.

The Brain Balance Assessment is an objective and quantifiable measurement of each area of function—motor, sensory, behavioral, social, emotional, and cognitive—allowing us to better understand your child’s unique challenges.

How Does the Assessment Work?

The assessment consists of sensory, motor, and cognitive testing of more than 900 functions and is performed in a single session. While your child is undergoing the evaluation, as the parent or guardian, you will have the opportunity to provide additional insight.

The Sensory Motor Examination: The sensory motor exam is a series of physical activities that are designed to identify the areas of your child’s brain that might have a developmental delay, which can lead to an imbalance or functional disconnection. We assess all aspects of motor skill and development, sensory detection, and sensory processing during this portion of the assessment.

The Cognitive Examination: At Brain Balance, our cognitive examination is a standardized academic achievement test that measures 120 different academic skills. Over the course of the test, it becomes clear which types of academic skills are strong and which are weak and, further, highlights the corresponding areas of the brain that are affected. Along with academic achievement, we assess cognitive skills, reading ability, and social development and behavior.

Children describe our assessment as fun, while it provides us with invaluable information about your child’s current physical, verbal, and comprehension skills.

The Report of Assessment

Following the evaluation, together we will review a detailed report of your child’s results and discuss how Brain Balance may be able to help. You will understand exactly why your child may excel at some tasks and struggle with others and how this leads to the problems that you and your child struggle with every day at home or school. The report will provide you with a complete understanding of your child’s behavioral, social, and academic skills. We will also explain in detail what we can do to help reduce or eliminate these problems, resulting in long-term improvement in academics and behavior.

This comprehensive assessment will determine if your child is a candidate for the Brain Balance Program. The testing results help us to create a comprehensive, fully individualized program to address your child’s unique challenges.
