5 Handmade Lupine Cards with Envelopes

Students in Sarah’s K/1 class were inspired by the season and a book called Miss Rumphius to create beautiful hand painted cards for this year's auction. In Barbara Cooney’s lovely story, a little girl is told by her grandfather that she must do something to make the world a more beautiful place. In her youth, she travels to faraway places and later in life comes home to live by the sea, and in her old age she remembers her grandfather’s words…what could she do to make the world more beautiful? She sets out to plant flowers, Lupine flowers. She scatters seeds and watches beautiful patches of purple and blue pop up all over town. Then, she tells her niece and the children of her town that they too must do something (special to them) to help make the world a more beautiful place!
The greeting cards were made using a combination of crayon, tempera, and ink. They are thumbprint lupines made with handmade purples so that each card is unique. We studied the contrast between warm and cool colors and the way white paint can give the illusion of a reflection of light.

Pick up/shipping information: At auction close, items will be available for pick up at REACH School in Sebastopol, CA, on the designated pick up days or it can be mailed at the winning bidder's expense via Fed Ex, UPS or USPS first class mail. Winning bidder is responsible for all shipping fees and billed at standard industry rates.
