Item Description

Earlier in the year, our fourth graders studied California landscapes. They also learned how Native Americans used natural, available resources to make paints and dyes that were used for a variety of purposes. When the children began the process of designing their Arts Showcase setting, they discussed what visual elements could help tell their trickster tale. Following recipes for making watercolors out of natural supplies like beets, cabbage, onionskins and turmeric, the fourth graders made their paints. Individually, they designed and painted small watercolor paintings using the handmade paints. Next, each class took elements of the individual paintings to create the large panels, again using the handmade paints.

Item Special Note

Each panel is 4 ft by 7 ft high on watercolor paper. They have been used in the showcase and displayed so there may be some damage around the edges. SOLD AS IS -- These were art display pieces; they have been taped up with clear cello tape which would damage the paint if removed -on top and bottom edges.

This panel features purple mountains and was made by students in Ms. Galati's class.

It is possible to cut scenes from this panel and frame separately as smaller works of art.
