Item Description

You are bidding on a 10 day YOGA AND HANDMADE CREATIONS WITH ALISON DAVIS AND LILY MALLEKPOUR

Date: June 15th through 26th, 2015

We will create many beautiful and artistic projects during our time together. Working with a wide variety of materials and methods, we will find inspiration both in our own imaginations and in collaboration with the group.

The yoga portion will be woven in with the artistic elements of the day. We will explore different ways of moving with our breath, and learn the names and alignments of asanas (poses) and their relationship to forms in the natural world. Some time will be spent in quiet stillness each morning, followed by joyful song and chant.

For children entering grades two through six in fall of 2015 and at least 7 by the first day of the session.

Item Special Note

Valid only for the week of June 15th through 26th, 2015 week.

ABOUT OUR CAMP TEACHERS:

Alison Davis is a PhD candidate at Stanford University specializing in French and Francophone Literature, and she has been sharing her love of language and cultural history with students at both the high school and university level since 2006. Alison earned her BA from the University of Kansas and MA from the University of Notre Dame in French and Foreign Language Pedagogy, but her passion for teaching reaches far beyond the typical classroom. Alison volunteers as a facilitator of creative writing workshops in the juvenile justice system and teaches many forms of fitness and yoga to adults and children alike. Alison joined our high school faculty in 2014.

Lily Mallekpour earned her by BA in Fine Arts from Point Loma University and her MA from Santa Clara University. As an artist, has worked with many medias including wood, metal, paint and fibers. She is currently working towards a degree in teaching Handwork from Steiner College. Lily loves teaching and and helping children to find their unique voice through art.
