Item Description
Medium: Acrylic paint, acrylic chalkboard paint, and chalk
Artist: Lisa Loeb
Artist Vision: All instruments are tools for expression. You can play what's written for you, or you can experiment and make your own mark, even on a very classical instrument. The cello's chalkboard paint is a canvas for anyone to create and erase and create again. Break limits, create something complicated or simple. All ages are welcome. I painted the cello my favorite light pink color - inspiring, warm and welcoming - with a chalkboard front, and decorated with sophisticated gold, slick black, pure white, and playful pink. My 5-year-old daughter, Lyla, and my two-and-a-half year old son, Emet, started with their chalk drawings. Erase them, and use the chalk to make something of your own.
Item Special Note
Artist Biography:
Grammy-nominated singer/songwriter Lisa Loeb started her career with the platinum-selling Number 1 hit song "Stay (I Missed You)" from the film Reality Bites. To this day, she is still the only artist to have a Number 1 single while not signed to a recording contract, a remarkable and unparalleled feat for an unsigned artist. Loeb continues to craft irresistible pop songs for the 21st century, while designing eyewear, writing children's books, and supporting nonprofit causes. Her recent television appearances include John Oliver's "Last Week Tonight," "Orange is the New Black," "About a Boy," "Hot Tub Time Machine 2," "King of The Nerds," as well as Sprout's "Sunny Side Up Show." Loeb also co-wrote a new musical "Camp Kappawanna," which debuted at New York City's Atlantic Theater company in April. Camp Lisa is her nonprofit organization that helps kids attend summer camp. Her new song "321 Let Go" is featured in the motion picture Helicopter Mom, which stars Nia Vardalos and debuts on April 24th.
