Item Description
Small Vase, Celery
Kim studied ceramics at Massachusetts College of Art and trained as a production potter at Briglin Pottery in England. Within the US, she has freelanced in several ceramics studios on the West and East Coast. These varied experiences provided her the opportunity to work with all types of clay and artistic techniques. In 1986, Kim established her own studio in Connecticut producing a line of functional stoneware. In 2003, Kim established a new studio in California. Creatively energized by her move, she began working exclusively in porcelain clay creating elegant objects for daily use. Her forms are simple, yet refined; traditional, yet contemporary; understated and beautiful. They are minimally decorated and glazed in subtle hues to enhance the clay's translucent quality. These characteristics define her ceramics as well as reflect the culmination of her skill.
