Item Description
Gather your friends together and join the Flynn’s artistic director, Steve MacQueen and his wife, Kim, for a summer celebration at their Burington home.
Steve says: “I’ve been playing with fire since I can remember, and I’ve been cooking over it for the 30 years (my college roommate Scott taught me the finer elements of grilling on our tiny deck during Hurricane Kate, much to the astonishment and dismay of our neighbors). Fire is a versatile medium, so I can do vegetarian (Kim’s preference) or I can go full-on carnivore with large slabs of meat slow-cooked over hours (mine)…guest’s choice. I am a cocktail enthusiast who makes a mean Manhattan and martini (gin or vodka, though I am one of those snobs who feels compelled to say that vodka-and-vermouth is not technically a martini, but I’ll only say it once), as well as quite serviceable old-fashioneds, mint juleps and other drinks on the vodka/gin/bourbon spectrum.
“I’m happy to talk about my job and the ins/outs of performing-arts programming at the Flynn and elsewhere. I’ve been fortunate enough to do some international travel this year, as well, so I’m prepared to talk about Algeria and Japan. Outside the arts, I am fluent in the following topics: literature, Florida, food, child-rearing, film, mixology, history, even sports (Cubs fan, Federer devotee, conflicted FSU Seminole). I’m not afraid to discuss/debate religion or politics, either, but am happy to stay away if those topics cause problems.
“Also, as a former reporter, I like to listen as much as I like to talk, and I’d love to hear your story.”
Item Special Note
Cocktails and Dinner for six at the MacQueen's Burlington Residence. Date to be mutually agreed upon between the bidder and the MacQueens.
