Reflexology is a science based on the principle that reflexes in the hands and feet relate strongly to internal organs and other key areas in the body. The hands and feet are massaged and manipulated to allow reflexes to release stress and toxins in all the major body centers.
It's like having a full body massage, but all you have to do is take off your shoes!
Using methodology developed by Barbara Bowers of the Branch Reflexology Institute, cancer patients have reported that reflexology treatments improve their ability to breathe, to sleep, climb stairs, carry groceries, and help to reduce stress.
She is leading the Maine Council of Reflexologists' initiative to train caregivers in ways to use reflexology to bring relief to cancer patients.
In a recent study of the National Institute of Health (NIH)/Michigan State with the Branch Reflexology it was proved that reflexology was clinically beneficial to women undergoing chemotherapy for breast cancer.
Lynn Marie Danforth, Certified Reflexologist, works from her two offices; South Portland and Portland, Maine. Lynn’s Reflexology training was with the Omega Institute of Holistic Studies in Rhinebeck, NY and the Father Josef Method of Reflexology. Lynn has been practicing Reflexology since 2000. Lynn’s passion shows through when she works on clients.
