Located in the heart of the historic city of Marrakech, the AnaYela is surrounded by authentic souks and traditional shops. Housed in a 300-year-old palace, the hotel is an homage to Moroccan history – in particular, local architecture and design. Its restoration was conducted using only traditional Moroccan craftsmanship, with over 100 artisans performing the work completely by hand. Inside, the AnaYela contains just five guestrooms so that guests are assured a luxuriously intimate and exclusive experience. As in all urban Moroccan homes, the heart of the AnaYela is a roofless inner courtyard that acts as a veritable open-air living room complete with a swimming pool. A small terrace tower known as the Flying Carpet is one of the highest points in the Medina where guests can enjoy stunning views of Marrakech below and the Atlas Mountains beyond. There is a second part of the extraordinary package: an authentic Berber bag by ABURY. ABURY is a non-profit organization looking to preserve and revive traditional arts and crafts from places like Morocco, Bangladesh and Thailand by exposing them to a worldwide audience while in turn providing education and work opportunities within the various communities. The bag of the Berber – the ABURY bag – is truly exquisite. Over the centuries, these bags meant the world to their owners: they contained all their experiences, passions and little secrets. The winning bidder will have the opportunity to select a specially embroidered and decorated bag and customize it during the stay at AnaYela.
