Item Description

This item includes 3 bottles of California red wine:

  • Trentadue 2013 Old Patch Red Lot #39  - Named for the original 1896 plantings, our Old Patch Red has remained the all time favorite among legions of Trentadue fans for over three decades. The 2013 Old Patch Red Lot 39 is predominately Zin blended with Petite Sirah, Carignane and Syrah, resulting in a very fruity yet complex Rhone-like wine. The wine has dark red color with intense black cherry aromas, blueberries and cherry cola as an immediate impression. With aeration nuances of ripe plums, vanilla, maple and cocoa are showing with a slight dose of oak and toast. On the mouth, the wine is fresh and juicy with youthful brightness, finishing long and fruity. This is a wine that will drink well with a variety of foods but it is also very enjoyable on it’s own. Our 2013 Old Patch Red Lot 39 is delicious now but it will reward your patience with 2-3 years of aging.

  • Aliais 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon - With a very similar vintage to 2012, the 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon maintains the high standard set with the 2012, a wine that The Wine Enthusiast selected as one of it's Top 10 Wines under $10 last year. Hopefully their taste buds haven't changed, as the 2013 vintage continues the big, dark fruit, smooth texture, and delicious flavors as last vintage. Nose: The wine starts with more tea and tobacco at first, but as it opens up, the big, dark fruit and cocoa notes rise up. The textures are big and wide, but still smooth. There is no astringency on the finish for me. No heavy tannins or heat, but it is a fat wine with plenty of grip.
  • Pennywise 2012 Petite Sirah - The 2012 vintage shows textbook Petite Sirah color with an inky purple hue. The aromatics show notes of intense blueberry, dark cherry reduction, violets, and vanilla bean. Once again, the flavors start sweet and then get darker on the finish. This blend starts with blueberry pie, blackberry, sweet purple basil, and dark caramel. The wine finishes with dark molasses, toasted cedar plank, sweetened dried cherries, and mocha coffee.

This is a great grilling wine. Serve with burgers topped with carmelized onions and BBQ sauce, sticky ribs, or grilled chicken alongside sweet potato fries and coleslaw.
