From deep-diving murres and plucky puffins to our Laysan Albatross Makana – the only bird of her species at any zoo or aquarium in the world – our seabirds exhibit an abundance of engaging behavior and personality.
Did you know that our puffins prefer to be hand fed? Or that Makana likes to “dance”? Or that murres can dive as deep as 330 feet?
You’ll go behind the scenes with our aviculture team to get up close with these amazing birds. Participate in a special feeding session with our murres and puffins, then enjoy a special meet-and-greet with Makana and learn how she “flirts” with some of our male staff members. This memorable experience will open your eyes to the broad range of fascinating qualities that make seabirds such a vital part of our ocean ecosystem.
Item Special Note
Open to individuals age 18 and older.
Experience time varies, but generally lasts 30-45 minutes.
Reservations are required and must be made at least two weeks in advance.
Because of the configuration of the behind-the-scenes areas of these exhibits, this experience is not wheelchair accessible.
