Item Description
The winning bidder receives a pair of orchestra tickets for the opening night performance, at Freud Playhouse, from Center for the Art of Performance at UCLA, Thursday, October 8, 2015, 7:00 PM.
Text by Nobel Laureate Toni Morrison and Malian composer-singer Robia Traoré, directed by Peter Sellars. Desdemona is a thoughtfully staged re-imagining of Shakespeare’s “Othello” as told from the perspective of the titular character and her maid Barbary. As women’s voices fill the night air, we are in an intimate, spellbinding theatrical séance, both haunted and liberating, that moves in words and music across continents and centuries, connecting Elizabethan England to the Courts of Timbuktu to the future of the race—the human race—on this earth.
