Item Description

This furnished design highlights the unique ring-like patterns found within the burls of our ancient coastal redwoods.

Sequoia Sempervirens, also known as the Coastal California Redwood, is the tallest and most ancient of the world's trees. Growing only along the northwest edge of the continent, it is a lightweight straight grained wood with a natural red-brown tone. The wood is soft and brittle, containing a high concentration of tannic acid. Redwood Burl is a rare configuration of grain that swirls, curls, zigzags and contains the birdseyes that sprout into new trees.

Note: Redwood will check and grey with exposure to moisture and sunlight. A light sanding and application of wood oil will restore and maintain the finish.
