Concert Selection:
Monroe Crossing- November 7, 2015
Named in honor of Bill Monroe, “The Father of Bluegrass Music,” Monroe Crossing dazzles audiences with an electrifying blend of classic bluegrass, bluegrass gospel, and heartfelt originals. Their superb musicianship and on-stage rapport have entertained audiences across the United States, Canada and Europe.
Monroe Crossing is made up of five distinct personalities with differing musical backgrounds. When combined, their individual histories make for a very unique ensemble sound.
Michael Johnson-December 12, 2015
Michael Johnson has no plans to put on a cowboy hat, affect an accent, wear one glove or be anyone but himself. Moreover, he has performed and lived more music and recorded more hits than you would imagine. His voice immediately identifies him as the man who sings “Bluer Than Blue”, “Give Me Wings”, “That’s That”, “This Night Won’t Last Forever” and other landmark songs. His music shows a diversity, depth and heart that only come from years of dedication to a labor of love.
Guitar Masters: Tim Sparks, Phil Heywood and Dean Magraw- January 9, 2016.
For the first time, these three outstanding finger-style guitarists will share the stage. Tim Sparks, The 1993 National Fingerstyle Guitar Championship winner, is a guitarist whose innovative blending of musical styles has won him extensive praise from all corners of the music world. Phil Heywood’s lucid, groove-oriented playing led to being the 1986 National Fingerpicking Champion and winner of the 1987 American Fingerstyle Guitar Festival Competition. Dean Magraw’s passion transcends all perceived musical boundaries, yet his distinctive style is ever present, whether he’s performing and recording as a solo artist, leading his own ensembles such as the experimental jam band Eight Head, or collaborating with other musicians.
