Item Description
Leon Borensztein's extraordinary photographs have appeared in publications including Life, American Photography, the New York Times Magazine, and Harper's, and in exhibits around the world. When Borensztein came to the US in the late 1970s to study photography, he supported himself by traveling with a mobile studio and taking portraits in people's homes. Decades later his portfolio includes everyday people, as well as public figures -- the actor Sean Penn, Baseball Commissioner Bud Selig, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, and the writer Anne Lamott, to name a few. In 2015, Borensztein's work are being shown in individual exhibitions at the Michael Foley Gallery in New York and the Smith Anderson North Gallery in San Rafael. He has published four books and his works appear in many collections.
The father of a young woman with autism receiving services through EBI, Borensztein is donating a photo session for EBI's auction. He has offered to either bring his studio to your Bay Area home or take photos in his Oakland studio, that can accomodate up to five people. In his words, he "will photograph anybody and everybody, individually and as a group, including pets." He routinely takes numerous photos during a two hour session, often in excess of 100. Borensztein will then Photoshop the files and you will be able to download, share, and make prints of the images he has captured.
