Item Description
"Vista" is an Artist's Proof from a small edition of linocuts produced by the artist, Janet Cook-Rutnik, in her studio on St. John. These are original prints as they do not exist in any other form i.e. they are created for this medium and are not reproductions, which makes them collector's, items. Image size is 4 x 6 ", paper size 11.25 x 10", signed by the artist.
This lovely, classic look would enhance any room, and Vista would be especially at home in your Garden of Eden paradise.

What is Linocut (Woodcut)?
This is one of the earliest print techniques going back to China in the 9th century. First the artist sketches a composition on a plank of wood or linoleum block and cuts away pieces from the block with chisels or other tools. Ink is then rolled over the surface and paper is placed over the block. The raised (uncut) surfaces will print the color of the ink on the paper while the recessed, cutaway areas will not receive the ink and thus remain the color of the paper the image is printed on. These editions may be numbered with the number of print appearing on top and the edition (total number printed) below – 1/12 is the first print to be numbered in the edition of 12, A/P means Artist’s proof, sometimes these are slightly different from the edition and number very few. These are original prints in that the image was created for this medium and only exists in the form unlike a reproduction, which is usually a “picture” of an original work of art which has been reproduced photographically by offset lithography or gyclee printing.
