Evelyn Metzger attended the drawing classes of George Bridgman at the Art Students League in New York. She studied sculpture with Sally Farnham and painting with George Grosz, Raphael Soyer and Umberto Romano.
While in South America where she lived for many years, she worked under Guzman de Rogas in Bolivia and Demetrio Umuchua in Buenos Aires.
She has also participated in numerous group shows in museums and galleries here and abroad, and has held several one-man shows in New York and Paris.
