Item Description

Included in this package are two silver flasks from WWI era, a Civil War "Grand Army of the Republic" lapel pin, a picture in vintage frame of General MacArthur, and finally a scrapbook of Desert Storm.

The flask with the engraving is real silver; the rectangular flask is silver-coated. Both of these flasks belonged to Lt. Col. Clarence Pennel Baxter, of the United States Army Medical Corp. He was in France during WWI and he carried these flasks for support during that deployment. After France, he was posted to the Panama Canal Zone where the flasks were also used and enjoyed. He remained as an active duty physician until his death. He passed away in April of 1943 and is buried in the Corozal American Cemetary in Panama. Donated by his granddaughter, Nancy Geiger.

The Civil War "Grand Army of the Republic" lapel pin is a scarce item. These were expressely made for the G.A.R. Veterans. The pin measures 5/8" wide. Brass lapel pins were one of the veterans most prized possessions, signigying his proud participation in the greatest event of the 19th Century, the American Civil War. They used to be found all the time, now they are seldom seen.

Also in this package is a photo of General MacArthur in a Glass Vintage Frame. Douglas MacArthur (26 January 1880 – 5 April 1964) was an American five-star general and Field Marshal of the Philippine Army. He was Chief of Staff of the United States Army during the 1930s and played a prominent role in the Pacific theater during World War II. He received the Medal of Honor for his service in the Philippines Campaign, which made him and his father Arthur MacArthur, Jr., the first father and son to be awarded the medal. He was one of only five men ever to rise to the rank of General of the Army in the US Army, and the only man ever to become a field marshal in the Philippine Army.

Finally included in this package is a Scrap Book of Desert Storm, with original newspaper and magazine clippings and photos.
