Item Description
This bronze Kwan Yin Royal Ease from Neko-Chan is a reproduction of a piece in the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art, Kansas City, that dates back to the 11th-12th Century.
Kwan Yin (Guanyin) is immensely popular among Chinese Buddhists, especially those from devotional schools. She is generally seen as a source of unconditional love and more importantly as a savior. In her bodhisattva vows, Guan Yin promises to answer the cries and pleas of all beings and to liberate all beings from their own karmic woes.
Neko-Chan "search(es) the planet to find and bring you the unusual, tools and gifts that enrich the spirit." Its catalog is brimming with everything from the practical - incense, malas and books - to the unusual - pottery, textiles and cats! "A package from Neko-Chan should bring a smile to your face."
The company "will not knowingly deal in any items which are produced by 'sweatshops', prison labor, slave labor, child labor...and (has) a policy of across-the-board boycotting of products from China to protest the Chinese take-over of Tibet." They go on to say that "There are many struggling artisans and craftpersons in China who deserve a break" and that they continue to look for and support them.
