Great Explorations Children’s Museum is designed for children 10 and under, the 24,000 square foot museum is filled with exhibits and activities to stimulate learning through creativity, play and exploration. The museum is a learning playground where children can make a discovery, make a mess, and even make a new friend.
This AAM–Accredited children’s museum also offers a national award winning preschool, camps, field trips and community outreach programs.
This AAM accreditation is the highest recognition for a museum and signifies excellence to the museum community, donors, outside agencies, and to the museum-going public. Great Explorations is the first mid-size children’s museum in the country and the only children’s museum in Florida to achieve AAM accreditation. The museum joins the ranks of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Salvador Dali Museum, Museum of Fine Arts, and Indianapolis Children’s Museum.
Great Explorations was co-founded in 1986 by the Junior League of St. Petersburg and Hands-On! Inc.
