Item Description
This Inuit Carved Whale Bone is an authentic work of art by Qaqasiralaq Kullnalik.
The piece measures 22" x 11.75".
"In this piece, Qaqasiralaq emphasized identifying characteristics between spirit and mammal. The expressive facial features of the shaman is a repetitive theme which can be seen in other pieces by him. This creates a dramatic effect synonymous to his works. There is some refinement involved with the wolf portion and claws of the piece which leads to the interpretation that it was made in the 1980's. The combination of Shaman and wolf create a unique disposition in the piece and was one of the first of its kind attempted in that era."
*** This piece has been authenticated by Inuit Gifts located in Canada.
