Item Description

During an Arctic career spanning more than two decades, Lonnie Dupre has traveled over 14,000 miles throughout the high Arctic regions of northeastern Russia, Lapland, Alaska, Canada, and Greenland. He has led five major Arctic expeditions and participated in six. Lonnie's expeditions have been featured in Reader's Digest, Sports Illustrated, Outside, and National Geographic Online. In 1991, he organized and led the Northwest Passage Expedition, making a 3,000-mile transit of the Canadian Arctic by dogsled, while recording changes in Inuit culture since Knud Rasmussen’s expedition in 1923. Lonnie led the One World Expedition project, a trip from Greenland to the North Pole, pulling and paddling specially modified canoes across shifting sea ice and open ocean to raise awareness of global warming and climate change.

This past winter, Lonnie successfully climbed Denali in Alaska, becoming the first solo climber to reach the summit in the month of January. Since then he has traveled to speak about his experiences to a variety of groups.

Trekker, author, environmentalist, mountain climber, Lonnie Dupre is one of our nation’s most thoughtful and revered polar explorers. Perhaps you’ve read one of his recently published books – Life on Ice: 25 Years of Artic Exploration, or Greenland Expedition: Where Ice is Born. Read more at www.lonniedupre.com.

Now, join Lonnie for a private viewing of his new film, "Cold Love."   You can watch the trailer here. This is a unique opportunity to learn and share with Lonnie the stories of his 25 years of arctic exploration.
