Item Description

"Om has been chanted for thousands of years. in the stillness that resonates after the sound ends, you feel at one, connected to and in harmony with all" says designer and creator Mary Jane Dodd. The "Surrender" earrings feature an "om" and this poem:

freedom is gained
in releasing.

life is change.

our white-knuckled grip
of clinging
to avoid that which is inevitable
brings great suffering.

our hands tire and ache.

when finally we open them,
allowing our fingers to stretch,
we exhale
and soften.

everything softens.

and in the act of surrender
we find the peace
we had been seeking
all along.

Substantial weight sterling silver (but not too heavy) has been cut, shaped, filed, textured, stamped & set with tube rivets. It hangs from sterling wire in such a way that smooth gentle movement results - movement that represents freedom, release and surrender. Sleeping beauty mine turquoise and red coral have been chosen for their beauty, meaning and use throughout the history of jewelry making.

Mary Jane describes herself as 'a maker of protective, connective, meaning-filled adornment and small metal objects... observer of humanity and the natural world... lover of fire, metal, hammers, anvils & patina... but also soft fibers, deliberate stitches, glowing gemstones & words... seeker of peace..." Visit Mary Jane's blog to learn more.

Details: Earring length 3" or 76mm.
