Item Description
Enjoy a cosy evening of theatre at Greenway Arts Alliance. Though Greenway Court Theater has come a long way since its origins as a Fairfax High School class project in 1939, it remains truly a community theatre. Greenway has opened its door to many main-stage productions, weekly open mic poetry, festivals and world premieres that have moved to larger venues and toured across the country.
Breathe, written by Javon Johnson and directed by Levy Lee Simon, deals with with the delicate yet incredibly important issue of race. “When two teenagers (one black, one white) are involved in separate acts of violence the consequences they face are based not only on evidence, but also on the color of their skin.” “Using a combination of urban poetry and dramatic action, Breathe explores the tensions, decisions and conditions that leads the boys to prison and the effect their imprisonment has on their families.”
