Item Description
Board: 6'0" short board with a swallow tail bottom
Take a closer look at the bright colors and surreal images that come from Heather's imagination. You will find that she draws inspiration from the ocean, plants, and creatures from the sea. As a graduate from LCAD in Laguna Beach, California, she received a Bachelor's in Fine Art with an emphasis in Illustration. Her passion for drawing and painting started when she was very young and she has always been drawn to the beauty of the ocean and its surroundings.
In high school she started painting on surfboards and has continued to create both rideable works of art and wall hanger¿s for homes. Since 2005, she has designed surfboards, fins, clothing designs, notecards, and hats. As her art has developed, she has also painted surfboards live at venue's such as The Ritz-Carlton, Laguna Niguel, Montage Laguna Beach, St. Regis Monarch Beach, and the Grove at Anaheim. Her paintings have been published in books and magazines such as Surf Story, Longboard, Vision, WSSM, Fluir, FHM and on the web with a featured article on Surfline.
Heather looks at the small things, like the vibrant colors of the sunset, the way leaves and flowers are shaped, and designs created in nature to keep her inspired. She hopes to convey that she is inspired to paint the natural beauty around us while also expressing her imagination. She mainly works in Oils and Watercolors while sometimes combining the two for some interesting mixed media paintings.

The board was shaped by Terry Senate. Terry is a Southern California native who says, "When I first started shaping boards, I never planned to make a career out of it; I just wanted to make boards for myself and my friends." Forty years later and Terry is a legend in the surfing community in Southern California.
Terry started surfing at age 8 in 1964. At 12, he shaped his first board. Around the age of 20, he started shaping boards in a friend¿s horse tack room and at the same time started working at Infinity Surfboards. Steve Boehne (the owner) taught Terry the tricks of the trade, and the shaping, testing, and continually tweaking his boards improved significantly. Then Terry met Ben Aipa. Ben was one of Terry's idols and when they met Ben started helping Terry hone his skills. Aipa taught him all about rocker and board shape and how they influence a board's handling in the water. With two amazing mentors, Terry spent all hours in the shaping bay. He spent years honing his craft until there came a point where people started asking for their boards to be shaped by Terry Senate. Somewhere after that Terry decided to open his own shop, Terry Senate Surfboards in San Clemente, California.
