Carol has revised and rewritten her book, "We The People" and this revision has a new title: What Were They Thinking? On Truth, Liberty and Legacy. Carol writes, "We need a national civics lesson. We must reclaim the treasure that is the American system of government. Our freedoms were painstakingly enshrined in the words of our founding documents. Our forefathers died for them. But we're failing to teach our children and our immigrants the true history of our government and how it can be by employed by a free people to retain freedom. We're not teaching it partially because we don't know it."

REVIEWS:
This book will help fix that. It's an education, in 200 pages, in American citizenship. WE THE PEOPLE is an engaging primer. It's written for Christians....but does not assume all Christian readers will have a Christian worldview. So it teaches you how to develop one. Then it chronicles the nation's history. And then it provides a succinct course in how to be a good citizen and employ the the tools our society bestows upon us to make change. These tools were ceated for such a time as this and can help stop the loss of freedom, if we'll only use them. Carol Sewell shows us how."
I appreciated the fact that Mrs. Sewell begins her book examining the Biblical foundation for realizing the importance of being involved in influencing the direction our civil government is heading. She also extensively writes about the necessity of understanding the nature of worldviews and the importance of having a Biblically correct (rather than a "Politically Correct") worldview. The middle portion of the book is devoted to refreshing the memory of the reader regarding the history of the founding of this country beginning with the Puritans and Pilgrims in England and their quest to find a land where they could freely worship God in a way consistent with their convictions without fear of government reprisal. Mrs. Sewell tells of how the early American colonial settlers had a vision for their new found home as being a land that would be a "Shining City on a Hill" - a place that would shine the light of Christ into the rest of the world. The latter part of the book is about the process the Founding Fathers went through to establish a government that would protect the freedoms and liberties that all men are endowed with by their Creator. There is also a chapter that focuses on the Constitution of the United States, and a chapter about the brilliant strategy of the Founders to separate the branches of government so as to maintain a balance of powers. The last three chapters of the book focus on understanding the modern political process and the important role that we as citizens play in that process in order to "secure the future" for future generations.
Mrs. Sewell gives numerous citations and documentation for her work, as well as an extensive list of suggested reading for further study. At the end of each chapter, there are also biographical sketches of important people in the history of the founding and shaping of our country.
I have personally met and talked with Mrs. Sewell, and I can attest to the fact that she is a genuine Christian who is passionate about teaching people the real history of our country.
Read this book if you want to Know the Past, Understand the Present, and learn how you can Secure the Future.
