Item Description
This burlap covered portfolio with metal name plate contains three of the original set of twelve prints. The prints are accompanied by two text sheets; one contains a detailed description of the portfolio, and the second contains the artist's bio. The prints that are included are inscribed as "artist's proofs" and are: print #10 "No Time For Rest"/ print #11 "The Farmer Couple"/ and print #12 "The Protector."
Lior Roth was an Israeli painter, born in 1914 in Austria-Hungary. In 1920, Roth moved to Germany and, in 1933, immigrated to Palestine. He studied at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris. Roth first settled in Tel Aviv, then moved to Kvutzat Kinneret, then finally to Kibbutz Afikim where he remained until his death. He served as Director of the Art Academy of the Kibbutzim. Roth exhibited in the Israel, United States, Australia, Germany, Switzerland, Spain, Holland, Sweden, Denmark and South America. He died in 2002.
[This portfolio is part of a collection of prints from a gallery in New York that was going out of business. The gallery owner’s son donated these prints to Congregation Ahavath Shalom (CAS).
While these prints were evaluated as an originals, CAS makes no warranties or representation of any kind or nature with respect to the authenticity of this print. All works of art are being auctioned and sold by CAS on an “as is” basis.]
