Item Description
You and five mates can enjoy a two-hour Lake Superior sailing experience aboard the North House Folk School schooner Hjørdis – a 50-foot gaff-rigged schooner, sailing daily from the North House dock in Grand Marais harbor from late May through early October. The experienced and fully certified captain will take you on a tour of the harbor and, if conditions permit, a journey past the lighthouse and breakwater onto the open waters of the world's largest freshwater lake. You can sit back and relax as the schooner tacks across the waves with the Sawtooth Mountains in the distance and the distinctive red sails billowing overhead. Or, if you like, the captain will provide elementary instruction in the craft of sail and even give you a chance to take the helm.

-----------------
The winning bidder will make arrangements with North House for the private sailing experience at a mutually convenient date and time. Sailing is dependent upon weather conditions, and the schooner will not sail if conditions are deemed to be too dangerous. An alternative time will be arranged if the selected time is cancelled by North House for any reason. The deadline for this experience is October 1, 2016.
