Item Description
The Rigpa Online Courses - America program is intended to provide guidance and support for study and practice, to students who are not able to attend a Rigpa center in person. While students are encouraged to develop a daily practice, and to engage with regular study of the course curriculum, students are free to participate in the ways and extent that fit their circumstances.
The successful bidder will get to choose from the following and other course offerings starting as early as January 2016:
- What Meditation Really Is, Modules 1 through 6
- Ancient Wisdom for the Modern World
- Cultivating Compassion
- Turning Suffering and Happiness into Enlightenment
- Eight Verses of Training the Mind & Bodhichitta Introduction
- Invoking the Lama & Precious Human Birth
- Impermanence, Samsara, Karma
- Refuge
- Introduction to Bodhichitta and Bodhichitta, Modules 1 through 9
- Vajrasattva
- Mandala Offering & Cho
- Guru Yoga, Parts 1 through 3
The courses are generally 8 to 12 weeks in length, with one session per week. Students post answers to a weekly assignments which the instructors read and respond to. The instructor will also post a weekly summary. Many students have commented that a weekly cycle is very helpful in developing and maintaining a regular study and practice schedule.
Rigpa is an international network of over 130 Buddhist centres and groups in 40 countries around the world including Rigpa.usa. It was founded by Sogyal Rinpoche, the author of the ground-breaking book, The Tibetan Book of Living and Dying.
