Lonnie Holley: This catalogue was published by the Halsey Institute to accompany the exhibition entitled Something to Take My Place, The Art of Lonnie Holley. The catalogue contains essays by Mark Sloan, Director and Chief Curator of the Halsey Institute of Contemporary Art; Leslie Umberger, the Curator of Folk and Self-taught Art at the Smithsonian American Art Museum; an essay by Professor Bernard Herman (UNC Chapel Hill) on the performative aspects of Holley’s career; and an “as-told-to” autobiography by noted oral historian Theodore Rosengarten. This publication contains reproductions of over 70 of Holley’s assemblage works and provides a comprehensive overview of Holley’s art, life, and philosophy. With photographs by John Bentham, the book was designed by award-winning graphic designer Gil Shuler, and edited by Mark Sloan. The catalogue will be internationally distributed by D.A.P. (Distributed Art Publishers).

Patricia Boinset Potter: This catalogue was published by the Halsey Institute to accompany the exhibition entitled Patricia Boinest Potter: Patterns of Place. The catalogue includes essays by cultural critic Lucy Lippard, Halsey Institute Director and Chief Curator Mark Sloan, and photographs by Claire Boscher accompanied by artist commentary by Patricia Boinest Potter.

Renee Stout: This catalogue was published by the Halsey Institute to accompany the exhibition entitled Tales of the Conjure Woman. The catalogue includes essays by several contributors, including Mark Sloan, Director and Chief Curator of the Halsey Institute, Andrea Barnwell Brownlee, Director of the Spelman College Museum of Fine Art, and award-winning poet/essayist Kevin Young.

Motoi Yamamoto: Published by the Halsey Institute of Contemporary Art to accompany the exhibition Return to the Sea: Saltworks by Motoi Yamamoto, the catalogue includes essays by Mark Sloan, Director and Chief Curator at the Halsey Institute, and Mark Kurlansky, author of the New York Times best seller, Salt: A World History, and over 100 images documenting fourteen years of the artist’s saltworks around the world.

Aggie Zed: Published by the Halsey Institute of Contemporary Art to accompany the exhibition Aggie Zed: Keeper’s Keep. This catalogue includes a forward by Mark Sloan, Director and Chief Curator at the Halsey Institute and an interview between Michael Haga, Associate Dean, School of the Arts, at the College of Charleston and Aggie Zed. The catalogue includes six sketchbook pages and over 50 color reproductions featuring 17 paintings and 19 sculpture.
