Item Description
Pair of 4" x 5" prints under glass and double matted in black with brown wood frames. Great gift for the home office. The print titles are "Gold Hill" and "Blue Steps."
Says Bill "I'm basically self-taught but had a lot of good advice and direction from Pauline Bacon, whom I consider a mentor. I exhibit throughout the North Shore area, and have a permanent exhibit at the Tides Restaurant in Nahant."
Deveney is an instructor at the Lynn and Lynnfield Senior Centers. "I use the term instructor, loosely, because I feel I've learned more from them than they have learned from me." says Bill.
Deveney captures the English country side in both of these works from his travels in Great Brittain. Bill is a longtime Lynnfield Art Guild member and often paints en plein air. His unique style is very popular at our art shows. Bright colors and landscapes, gardens, even a gas station can come alive with Bill's paintbrush.
For our 50th year as a guild, Bill's work has been featured. Two of these prints have been made into handsome pair and donated to this auction.
Deveney's colorful Perley Burrill watercolor, the 1951 era colorful portrait of the first gas station in the U.S., is included in our Signature Series Notecards (a collection is up for bid on another page, scroll thru our offerings.) Perley Burrill portrait was also in the summer shows during the Tricentenial.
Bill recently returned from Italy, so we are looking forward to what he brings from there to his latest work!
