Item Description

Point Reyes National Seashore Association is proud to partner with The Poet's Loft in Marshall, for a fabulous two-night stay, and sailing adventure with Tomales Bay Sailing.

Invite up to three guests to join you for a two-night stay at The Poet's Loft, a beautiful house located on the east shore of Tomales Bay in the town of Marshall. This fully furnished bayside retreat sits over the water, and is complete with two rooms, a hot tub, wood-burning stove, boat dock and sweeping views of Tomales Bay and Point Reyes National Seashore. Launch your kayak or boat, go fishing, or watch a sunset from your private dock. The feel is casual and comforting, private and quietly indulgent.

Pick one of your days to meet Captain Brett Miller and Dr. Sarah Allen, Ocean and Coastal Resources Program Coordinator for the National Park Service's Pacific West Region for a 3-hour sailing adventure on Tomales Bay.  You and your guests will board the 22-foot catamaran at the boat dock near Nick's Cove and float away to discover the unique history, geology and ecology of this pristine waterway with this dynamic duo. Customize your trip with a walk on a secret beach or picnic, or let the Captain usher you around to his favorite places. The winning bidder will also receive two California Natural History Guides courtesy of the University of California Press including one copy of Dr. Allen's co-authored book, A Field Guide to the Marine Mammals of the Pacific Coast, and a copy of A Natural History of the Point Reyes Peninsula, by Jules Evens.

Brett Miller has been on the water since he was five years old, and has since logged thousands of hours of sailing for commercial and private vessels from small boats to large 40-foot yachts. He is Coast Guard certified, a member of the Inverness Yacht Club and former kayak guide along the bay.

Dr. Sarah Allen has studied marine birds and mammals of California for over 35 years at Point Reyes National Seashore and beyond. She has authored scientific papers on marine mammals and other topics and is currently working on climate issues for the Western Region of the National Park Service. She is the coauthor of “A Field Guide to the Marine Mammals of the Pacific Coast” released by UC Press in 2013.

Sail away to your Tomales Bay oasis, bid today!
