Item Description
Get a taste of true California cuisine from sustainable food pioneer and world-renowned chef Alice Waters at Chez Panisse Cafe in Berkeley, California. Waters has been dubbed the Mother of American Cuisine and is known for using exclusively local, organic ingredients, hand-selecting her produce, and starting the farm-to-table food revolution. Chez Panisse Cafe opened in 1980 as an more casual offshoot to her world-famous restaurant and exemplifies Waters' philosophy of pure, fresh, and ethically-sourced food, stemming from the Slow Food Movement.
You and a guest will enjoy dinner for two paired with a bottle of house wine, where all the produce, meat, poultry, and fish comes from farms, ranches, and fisheries guided by principles of sustainability. Choose from scrumptious options like pan seared California sea bass with green beans and cherry tomatoes, Llano Seco pork shoulder braised with apples and sage, wild nettle pizzettas, and a range of fresh salads and decadent desserts using only the freshest, and seasonal ingredients available.
The winning bidder will also receive:
Two of Alice Waters cook books: the newly published My Pantry: Homemade Ingredients That Make Simple Meals Your Own, and The Art of Simple Food II: Recipes, Flavor, and Inspiration from the New Kitchen Garden for your home kitchen library.
Plus, a signed copy of the newly published, The Violet Bakery Cookbook by Claire Ptak, with forward by Alice Waters. Ptak is a native of Point Reyes, who worked with Alice Waters at Chez Panisse for three years, before moving to Hackney, east London to start her own very successful career and bakery Violet.
Rest assured: the environment, your local farmers, house guests and your taste-buds will thank you. Bon appetit; bid today!
