Item Description

A unique set of tree trunk designs great for home or office, color prints, measuring 5" x 7" each, unframed. Shipping is included in the top bid.

Paula Jean Kulas is a local artist who has recently led a demo at Lynnfield Art Guild and she was so popular we had her back to do "Walk 'n Sketch" trail walks around Lynnfield Center on Saturdays this summer. Paula shared her unique painting techniques to achieve the texture of the bark and other tree details. She showed the Guild outdoors how she scientifically observes and measures color and value and light.

Kulas has a BA in Biology from UMass, Boston, and has participated in over 50 workshops with various local artists. She is self-taught through artist instruction books and field study.

Kulas received 'Best in Show' from Danvers Art Assoc., Guild of Beverly Artists, Peabody Interntional Festival, Rockport Art Assoc. and Marblehead Art Assoc.

Paula currently teaches private lessons in watercolor and at local libraries and retirement homes. She has organized and led 4 small week long expeditions in the Seirra Nevada for field study sketching in photography and sound recording.

Paula teaches tree lessons - a combination of biology and art now embedded in STEAM curriculum at schools.

ARTIST STATEMENT:

"I love the wilderness! I feel as did John Muir when he said "For my part, I should like to stay here... all my life or even all eternity." To inspire others to seek this transofrming experience of the wilderness is why I paint."
