Item Description
Located on the rugged Maine coast, Acadia National Park has long been one of America's most treasured national parks. Originally established as Sieur de Monts National Monument in 1916 -- and named a national park in 1919 -- Acadia is the oldest national park east of the Mississippi River. The park consists of more than 47,000 acres -- including 30,300 acres on Mount Desert Island. The mountains of Acadia National Park offer hikers and cyclists spectacular views of the Atlantic Ocean, island lakes, and pine forests.
Bar Harbor, a small picturesque seaside resort on the northeastern side of Mount Desert Island, offers visitors history, shopping, and world-renowned ambiance.
